We Are Hiring

The Senior Vice President, Operations will be responsible for day to day operations in the acute care and ambulatory settings across Ascension, in partnership with the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. The incumbent will have accountability for operational, financial and quality outcomes and will formalize Ascension’s operational discipline and metrics by establishing an accountability structure that improves operational outcomes.  In addition, the incumbent will have responsibility for our ambulatory surgery and imaging divisions.

 

The incumbent in this role will work in a highly matrixed organization and will need to demonstrate highly developed communication and collaboration skills as well as the ability to integrate plans and activities of various service lines and functions that operate across the organization. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Ascension


What You Will Do

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and execution of strategies, systems, and structures to achieve operational excellence in alignment with Ascension’s Strategic Plan. 
  • Brings performance improvement focus supported by change management and operational discipline that assess the current state of metrics and reporting structures to identify areas of opportunity.  
  • Develops operational metrics and dashboards to quickly identify trends in performance and then coordinates resources such as performance excellence and peer review to improve overall performance and outcomes.
  • Drives performance metrics that impact service line growth and development that tie into the strategic direction
  • Leads implementation of special projects such as Operating Room /Sterile Processing Department redesign.
  • Convene and lead a Council of Ministry Market Chief Operating Officers.
  • Collaborates with senior market leadership bringing standards and solutions across the organization.
  • Provides guidance and leadership in a matrix environment and integrates with strategic planning and operational finance teams
  • Provides support, relief, and partnership with the Chief Operating Officer to continue the advancement of Ascension’s mission, vision, and values.

What You Will Need

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

 

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • 10 years of experience in Executive-level role(s) in a healthcare setting, preferably including several years in Executive-level role(s) for a large system.
  • Advanced knowledge of trends, federal and state regulations, reimbursement requirements, value-based care, and the evolving health care delivery system
  • Strong business acumen with ability to drive change in a large, complex organization with matrix reporting relationships
  • Demonstrated success in leading large scale initiatives that have significant impact across the organization
  • Excellent team leadership and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize multiple demands and projects
