What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full -Time Parking Specialist position at ASM Global?
ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for Parking Lane Specialist at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Parking Lane Specialist is responsible for participating in the day-to-day functions of receiving and having custody of limited amounts of cash and/or monetary substitutes. Responsible for collecting parking fees from patrons in the garage and or parking lots on GCCC property. Must be able to work Thursday - Sunday 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts available.
Major Responsibilities:
- Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English.
- Verifies number of payments received against number of tickets issued or collected.
- Receives payment for fees, from parking customers, verifies amount due, gives change if necessary; issues receipt and deposit payments received.
- Accountable for discrepancies between cash collections and automatic counter readings, cash register readings, and/or other cash control procedures.
- Keeps comprehensive, complete, and neat reports of daily business related to parking customers. Reports must include but should not be limited to starting tickets, ending tickets, total tickets sold, tickets returned, amount per ticket, total amount collected, voids, refunds, and no fees.
- Write down complaints and refer complainants and/or customers to the appropriate parking supervisor, i.e., daytime cashiers to daytime supervisor, evening cashier to evening supervisor.
- Report all unusual situations, accidents, and suspicious people to the supervisor. Write down license number, make of car, and description of person causing any problems.
- Perform all maintenance and cleaning tasks noted on checklists and as directed by the facility manager/supervisor to ensure that all dirt, dust, litter, and debris is removed from all areas of the facility using brooms, mops, brushes, and other hand tools.
- Make multiple rounds daily to pick up and discard trash and debris.
- Empty all trash receptacles inside and out, including offices.
- Note and report burned out light bulbs and any malfunctions of equipment.
- Clean all spills.
- Submit requests for repairs or maintenance.
- Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Clean all Restrooms.
- Keep an inventory of janitorial supplies.
- Maintain a daily janitorial service sheet.
- Operate commercial cleaning equipment, as applicable for the job.
- Shovel and clean, snow from the entrance or exit ramps and in areas designated by the Facility Manager using shovels and other cleaning equipment.
- Responsible for keeping the workstation area clean, neat, and uncluttered.
- Maintains a neat and clean personal appearance.
- Answer inquiries or provides information to parking patrons on GCCC property about campus activities or locations.
- Must have the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, courteous, and polite manner. This will include initiating contact with guests within 10 feet - i.e., smiling, saying "Good Day", or helping when needed.
- Must feel comfortable when around large groups or speaking to a guest, as needed
- Understands the importance of providing customer service and in understanding of "The Magic is in the Details"
- All other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. One to two years of cashier experience. Previous cash handling experience preferred.
Knowledge: The applicant must be familiar with cash handling procedures. Must have a good aptitude for figures and ability to communicate diplomatically with patrons, supervisors, managers, and directors on GCCC property.
Experience: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED). A minimum of one year of experience handling cash. Customer service experience dealing with the public.
Skills/Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to interact with all types of people. Must be able to have a good relationship with co-workers, customers, vendors, and visitors to the facility. This position requires the ability to respond politely to all individuals and work well as a collaborator.
Physical Requirements: 70% frequent sitting, talking, or hearing; 20% Ability to stand on feet for prolonged periods of time working rotating shifts; 10% Ability to lift to 20lbs.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to noise, heat, rain, and cold.
