What you will be doing
As the Manager you will plan, organize, and mentor your team of Electrical Hardware Engineers to produce innovative new products and implement product enhancements. You will balance workloads & priorities, provide technical guidance and coach your team for professional growth. You will be self-motivated and take initiative in an agile environment.
- Manage a team of Electrical Hardware Engineers working in cross-functional and multi-location project teams.
- Participate in Pre-Product Innovation (PPI), New Product Innovation (NPI), and Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) development projects.
- Contribute to teams' agile processes from start to finish including Scrum and Kanban management, deployment and testing methodologies etc.
- Plan and implement strategies needed to accomplish departmental goals.
- Review and approve product designs, ensure work produced is to department standards and project expectations.
- Work closely with key stakeholders from multiple departments to meet business objectives
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements
- Effectively collaborate to negotiate and resolve or appropriately escalate issues as needed.
- Promote best practices for design, risk analysis & design review
What we are looking for
Education:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, MS degree preferred
Experience:
- 10 Years of Engineering Experience with 5 years in team leadership roles.
- Demonstrated history of developing products relevant to the marketplace, innovative leadership, driving to lowest cost.
- Strong familiarity with analog, digital, and embedded hardware
- Familiarity with battery-powered systems and wireless communication technology
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and complex environment
- Experience in using agile processes and methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, Continuous Improvement)
Other Qualifications:
- Strong Presentation, Organizational & Communications Skills
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to mentor junior members of the team.
- Proactive in cross-functional leadership and team coordination skills
- Ability to function in an extremely dynamic, constantly evolving business environment, maintaining an “always learning” disposition
- Strong team-building skills and teamwork orientation; ability to coach, mentor, and lead by example
- Able to work in Electrical CAD software, Altium preferred.
- Must be proficient with MS Office suite of tools
Reports: Directly to Senior Manager, Firmware/Hardware
Position may be based in New Haven or Berlin CT and frequent travel between locations is required depending on needs. Infrequent domestic and international travel will be required.
