Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Shipping Manager is responsible for the accurate, timely and safe loading of all outbound products from the Yuma plant to end user customers, as well as sister plants, the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of goods, and will control inventory levels by coordinating physical counts and assures conformance to Kanban pull system
Primary Duties:
- Deep knowledge and understanding of AMI behavior, practice them, train subordinates, and promote and enforce it;
- Practice, promote, and enforce all HR, safety, and quality policies and procedures regarding hiring, training, certification, audits, and disciplinary actions; enforce all policies & procedures;
- Responsible for housekeeping, inspection for safety, a safe place for all, 5S, ease of operations, continuous improvement, glass-free floor, free of dust and debris, & training new EEs;
- Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluation, and training of all employees in all areas;
- Accountable for accurate, timely, safe loading of all outbound products, following and enforcing all loading procedures;
- Manage freight utilization rate, communicate to PC and CS in advanced of loading, underutilized & overloaded trailers
- Oversee all FedEx, hotshot ting, and other outbound freights;
- Provide clear, concise, complete, and action-based communication to the managers and customer service;
- Reduce and eliminate number of units waiting for trucks on Load Dates;
- Assist the Plant Manager in: developing people; improving processes; reducing costs; quality monitoring and improvements; superior customer service; development and sustainment of lean initiatives; and on-time delivery;
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the staging, loading and shipping of goods;
- Responsible and accountable for the safety of all employees (all shifts) of the department;
- Work with Cardinal Trucking to manage the traffic of trailers and trucks in the yard; organize and 5S
- Confer with other managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments;
- Able and willing to keep Senior Leads and Leads accountable to HR, Safety and Quality policies and procedures;
- Avoid short ship without any prior written approval by customer service;
- Prepare charts and reports, work orders, schedules, and other records and reports;
- Balance & cross-train personnel to maintain maximum efficiency and output;
- Identify and resolve barriers to plant throughput; review all SOP and make sure all employees follow;
- Administer all assets inspections, recording and reporting. Work with maintenance to upkeep the equipment;
- Manage e-time system/exceptions;
- To cover for supervisor and managers and other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Supervisory experience is a must;
- Experience with implementation and sustaining a 5S program
- Computer proficiency with MSOffice
- Management of Personnel Resources - Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work. Interviewing, coaching and counseling to identify the best people for the job
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Must be able and willing to pick up to 50 lbs regularly and work in hot conditions; outside and inside.
