ASSYST is seeking a Wireless Lead Engineer who will be responsible for the configuration, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting and analysis of Wireless infrastructure services to deliver voice, video and data applications to our clients. The successful candidate will lead a team of 3-4 Wireless Engineers, overseeing day-to-day support operations, leading Wireless projects and making architectural/design decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Configure, deploy, monitor, troubleshoot and analyze Wireless infrastructure services.
- Oversee day-to-day support operations and lead Wireless projects.
- Make architectural and design decisions regarding Wireless infrastructure.
- Demonstrate expertise in various 802.11 wireless network standards, wireless security mechanisms, wireless design principles, RF technology and wireless network control systems, with a primary focus on Aruba and Cisco.
- Administer Aruba Airwave (NMS) and Aruba Wireless Controller, including support, SW/HW upgrades, reporting, alert notification and integration with Solarwinds.
- Utilize wireless network planning and survey tools, such as AirMagnet, Ekahau, Tamograph Site Survey, etc.
- Actively monitor and react to real-time network conditions, leading improvement efforts in support of monitoring, performance and reporting.
- Deploy resilient, high-speed Enterprise network segments, both wired and wireless.
- Utilize Wireshark packet analyzer to diagnose network performance problems.
- Demonstrate expertise in WAN carrier technologies (MPLS, DMVPN, IPsec, T-1, OC-3, SONET, High-Speed Internet) and standards.
- Exhibit knowledge of LAN technologies (GigabitEthernet, PoE, link aggregation, CDP, ARP, VLANs & trunking).
- Have a basic understanding of power distribution and protection systems.
- Create network staff training materials, network diagrams (Microsoft Visio) and general documentation.
- Have hands-on experience with Network Management Systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in wireless network engineering and administration.
- 7 years of experience with Aruba Airwave and Aruba Wireless Controller administration.
- 7 years of experience in the use of wireless network planning and survey tools.
- Proficiency in Cisco-based routing and switching platforms in an Enterprise environment.
- Experience with network protocols such as VoIP, SNMP, NetFlow, HSRP, Spanning Tree, QoS/CoS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, NAT/PAT, NTP, RADIUS, DNS, DHCP.
- Strong understanding of WAN carrier technologies and LAN technologies.
- Ability to create network staff training materials, network diagrams and general documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Network Management Systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
