Description:
SUMMARY:
Directs, plans, and coordinates activities within the procurement department to ensure the availability of direct & indirect materials and or services. Evaluates suppliers and negotiates contracts to achieve the competitive cost for high-quality goods. Promotes the professional competence of the department through direct supervision of daily activities, training, and support. Has the responsibility for the creating business processes and standards to increase the efficiency of the plant. This role is an integral part of the organization's leadership team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Follows and supports all Company Safety policies and procedures
• Ensures performance metrics and goals are met and action plans implemented. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Responsible for department trainings including training plans to build a high knowledgeable team
• Develops, leads, and executes purchasing strategies to meet business plans
• Forecasts prices and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
• Performs cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
• Assess, manage, and mitigate risks
• Develops annual budgets and long-term strategic plans
• Manages new supplier onboarding, acceptance and or development
• Supports and or manages the negotiations of all direct materials, indirect material including services
• Supports and or manages all contracts
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the market to ensure best value and practices are maintained
• Evaluates Suppliers based on performance and implements backup strategies for key suppliers
• Ensures that all purchase requests have been approved in accordance with authorized approval levels
• Maintains established housekeeping standards for responsible area
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Leads and directs procurement personnel. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees planning, assigning, and directing work appraising performance rewarding and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Have:
- SAP experience (recently)
- Experience from Meat, or meat processing industry
- Managerial experience in some capacity
- Negotiation experience with vendors/suppliers
- 5 years of procurement/supply chain experience
Nice to have:
- Bachelors Degree (if enough years of experience this won't be a must have)
