Astor Club, a prestigious private club in Chicago, is seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will work under management, ensuring high-quality food preparation and service for our exclusive members.
Responsibilities:
- Execute daily tasks and follow recipes precisely.
- Maintain food quality by collaborating with BOH staff; chefs must approve all dishes before serving.
- Manage inventory and order supplies for your station.
- Oversee and assist commis with food prep, including staff meals.
- Prioritize FIFO practices and adhere to health department regulations.
- Ensure smooth communication between FOH and BOH teams.
- Stay updated on industry trends and follow safety protocols.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and maintain a positive work environment.
- Assist the Banquet Chef and manage stations during their absence.
- Prepare and plate dishes accurately and efficiently.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, chef-driven environment.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and focus under pressure.
- Punctuality and adherence to uniform policies.
- Must be able to work on your feet for 8 hours and lift at least 35 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ServeSafe Certification and allergen training.
- Proficient knife skills.
