What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional - part time position at At Home - In Home Health Care?
We are At Home Atlanta. At Home Atlanta provides Community living Supports, at home and in the community, to clients with Intellectual disabilities through the Medicaid waiver. We provide Supervision, Community integration, and Transportation. We are looking for a person who assists individuals with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community, assists with activities of daily living if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. Examples of Direct Support Professional tasks include helping individuals with daily activities, accompanying them to doctor appointments, cooking and serving meals, performing light housekeeping duties, running errands, assist with personal hygiene, and providing companionship.

Competencies:
- Composure under pressure: These individuals need the help of their DSPs, and sometimes they can't always express their discontent, unhappiness, or frustration in productive ways.
- Dependability and punctuality: Unexpected absences and showing up late can disturb patients who depend heavily on predictability and sameness of routine.
- Keen sense of observation: A DSP should be able to tell when something isn’t right with the individual he serves. Other DSPs, medical professionals, other individuals, and family members might be able to shed light on the situation when a DSP can't put her finger on what's wrong.
- Interpersonal skills and a strong sense of teamwork: These characteristics help DSPs deal with the challenges of the work and make them good co-workers for other DSPs.
- Basic Skills using a computer: A DSP is required to document their time with the individual in order to get paid. Documentation can be completed and emailed to the supervisor on the computer.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to obtain a Fingerprinting for background check
- Copy of updated TB results
- Reliable transportation and willing to travel in metropolitan Atlanta
- Willing to go through a training process.
- Passionate about caring for people
- Current, state license and CPR certification/First Aid.

- Person 1 – Male,* lives in Stone Mountain GA*, Monday-Friday, 3p-6:30p (Female staff needed)
- Person 2 – Female,* lives in Snellville GA, Monday -Thursday, and Saturday or Sunday 2:30p - 7:15P (Female staff needed*)
- Person 3 – Female, Lives in Decatur, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday 4p - 8p(Female staff needed)
- Person 4 – Male, Lives in Lilburn GA, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 4 to 6 hours (No set schedule yet)(Female/Male staff needed)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
