Pre-op/PACU RN

Ambulatory surgery center, specializing in ophthalmology, is seeking a qualified Pre-Op and PACU nurse to administer diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. This position offers:

Duties:

• Assess patients prior to and after surgery

• Ensure that operative consents are signed

• Take and record vital signs
• Ensure patient readiness for surgical procedure

• Initiate and discontinue IVs

• Administer medications

• Monitor vital signs

• Document all findings in patient charts

• Answer patient questions and ensure they are comfortable

• Monitor patient condition and report any changes to the physician

• Perform interventions in cases of emergencies

Requirements/Preferences:

• Candidate must possess general clinical competency in acute patient care

• Candidate must demonstrate ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
• Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment while still ensuring high quality patient care

• Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred but not required
• Previous ophthalmology experience is preferred but not required

• Must have a current Florida Registered Nurse license and BLS certification
• ACLS and PALS preferred but not required
• Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 or be able to provide a medical exemption from a medical doctor

Opportunity for extra hours may be available depending on experience and availability. Consistent availability on Tuesdays and Thursdays is preferred.
