What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Art Director/UI Designer position at Attane?

Digital Art Director/UI Designer

Let’s talk about the role

As an Attane Digital Art Director/UI Designer, you’re in the business of ideas, implementation, and execution. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs. You will use your creativity and eye for design – along with your technical knowledge – to develop great experiences. This means you need to become an idea factory and can easily jump from project to project. In this role, you'll have the privilege of being the voice of our clients’ users. You'll translate their needs into user-friendly designs. You will have direct impact on the user experience of our products. You do have partners (primarily art directors, copywriters, and creative directors), but it’s important for you to constantly evolve and enhance your personal skill set. It starts with having these demonstrable skills:

Design: Above all, you must know your craft, and always practice it. You know how to use the tools of the trade to distill simplicity from complex user requirements. Understanding the cost implications of your ideas, the budget constraints, and how to work within those parameters is critical. Often, you’ll need to work with other internal associates or vendors to ensure a project is possible – better to check your ideas at the rough stage than to design and realize budget won’t support your idea or format.

Conceptual: You have great communication skills both when interfacing with clients as well as when working with your team — presenting compelling information in an interesting way. You can think not only visually, but how that visual enhances the user experience.

Verbal: Developing creative work is a team sport – especially digital work. You’ll be expected to regularly communicate with as many as 4 departments on a single project: Project Management, Account Service, Creative, and Digital. Understanding how to work with others and communicate effectively will be vital to your success.

People: Bring out the best in your workmates – no matter their discipline. Be thoughtful, insightful, respectful, knowledgeable, articulate, likeable, and involved. Set up meetings with partners as needed. Present ideas to creative directors and Client Service – take the initiative to present in person whenever possible. Simply putting a pdf out for review isn’t going to give your audience the insight and thinking that went behind the job. Respect the work you do and give it the proper amount of enthusiasm when selling to our internal partners. You’ll be asked to give our Client Service partners as much ammunition as possible as to why this execution is the best work for a given job.

Workload Management: You are flexible, decisive, and you know how to put ego aside and focus on the needs of the client. You’re able to lead large and complex projects and know how to define and prioritize problems to be tackled so you deliver jobs on time and on budget. If you find yourself in a tight corner (we all do, sooner or later), you proactively reach out to your supervisor and Project Management.
