Audubon is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector to be part of a project team working onsite at a client's plant in Norco, LA. The Quality Assurance Inspector assures the project facilities are designed, procured, fabricated, constructed and documented in accordance with approved project specifications, design documents, IFC drawings, applicable Codes/Regulations, site requirements and acceptable work practices.
- The Quality Assurance Inspectors functionally report to the Projects Quality Assurance Lead for job assignment and perform QA inspections and audits on projects. The QA inspector daily documents and reports inspection activities performed for quality of workmanship. The QA Inspectors work closely with the Projects Quality Assurance Lead for direction and technical advice on project related issues.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Areas of Responsibility will include:
- Serving as a first line contact with craft, field supervision, operations and construction on technical project matters specific to the discipline from start of construction through commissioning.
- Reviewing and approving contractor packages for pre-approval of the inspection and test plan.
- Performing shop audits, factory acceptance tests during fabrication and / or site acceptance tests during construction.
- Conducting equipment inspections and “buy-off” at the point of mechanical completion, as the representative relative to the specific discipline.
- Reviewing and signing contractor turnover packages for final acceptance of mechanically complete facilities and required documentation.
- Working with the Project Integration Assurance Lead, GSAP coordinators, etc. to facilitate input of documentation into the site standard work systems.
- Meeting with the Instrument Contractor to establish any inspection hold points prior to commencing work.
- Establishing lines and means of communication with the Contractor to report and resolve conflicts that may arise during the construction phase of the job.
- Maintaining an open communication with the Control Systems Engineer (CSE), Instrumentation Contractor, inspectors, operation representative(s) and the QA / QC Manager to discuss and resolve inspection queries. The Instrument Inspector shall communicate freely with the Control Systems Engineer (CSE) on inspection requirements and sell-off procedures.
- Performing ongoing inspection of instrumentation installation through the construction phase and turnover of systems. He or she will participate in the loop sell off of designated loops. Required loops to be witnessed shall be established by the CSE before loop sell off begins.
- Keeping daily notes of inspections performed and document and communicate progress, issues and NCR’s to the QA supervisor and QA team as necessary.
- Maintaining a log of projects, progress, and status of QA deliverables.
- Reviewing the Contractors’ loop folders and sell off sheet on a regular basis with the Contractor and be familiar with the schedule for loop-sell inspections.
- Monitoring the placement of instrument mounting stands and instruments for conformance to plant standards and accessibility. They will ascertain that the mounted height is in conformance with the datasheet requirements and that the installation will work as designed.
- Auditing the calibration of instruments and the records for conformance to DEP requirements.
- Monitoring the receipt of instrumentation material at the warehouse for conformance to storage and handling requirements.
- Sign off on instrument loop packages upon 100% completion and check out of the loop.
- Auditing the pressure testing of process connected impulse tubing. Validation of test pressures will be performed prior to testing. Test requirements are to be reviewed by both the Instrument Inspector and Contractor prior to testing.
- Additional duties as assigned.
