Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Trials Tissue Procurement Nurse to work alongside our ECCC Clinical Research Department.
This nurse will serve as the primary contact for ECCC surgical oncology trials involving tissue and work with the research supervisor to grow the surgical aspect of the clinical trials program. Responsibilities include: evaluating and accessing eligibility of potential candidates for clinical research studies, protocol compliance, assessing toxicities to treatments, collecting and submitting data, and assisting other research staff and physicians in coordination of protocol procedures. Serves as a clinical liaison between the research department and other patient care departments and health care providers. Responsible for maintaining high levels of accuracy in order to assure compliance with regulatory and protocol requirements.
Responsible for coordinating with surgeons to identify and consent patients eligible for tissue procurement, collection, logging and storage of tissue specimens in accordance with Best Practice and the Tissue Procurement Facility guidelines. Performs mammalian cell culture through sample receiving and processing, biopsy dissociation, light microscopy, aseptic technique, and two dimensional cell culture. Assist in development of departmental policies and performing the daily operations of the tissue bank.
