Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate Health Care Services to ensure competent care for guests
Ability to function as a TEAM LEADER of the Nursing Department
Conduct continuous analysis and evaluation of services rendered
Make Rounds Daily to all Nursing Units –
Assist in the development and maintenance of patient care policies, standards of practice, procedures, policies and job description
Initiates the development and implementation of policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and plan and conduct appropriate in-services.
Coordinate Health Care Services
Assist in determining the staff required for Health Care Services
Initiate and conduct meetings of Health Care Services as they relate to the planning for guests’ care, problem solving, and interpretation of policies
Develop the staffing pattern required for Health Care Services
Participate in other departmental meeting and serve on committees as requested
Meet with the Administrator regarding activities of the department and problems encountered
Work closely with physicians and consultants concerned with providing optimal care to guests
Work with Administration in the planning and implantation of staff development and continuing education programs
Work closely with Social Worker and Social services at hospitals
Coordinate Resident Care needs with home health and hospice
Convey the philosophy of Health Care Services to the community.
Assure that each residents accident or incidents are fully documented and reported to doctors and responsible party
Participate in professional meetings
Keep informed of new developments in medical science, particularly in gerontology, so that changes can be affected when and where applicable.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess residents’ pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, and education resident and family on pain management.
Assist in evaluation of staff members
Request emergency medications from pharmacy and distribute them to the nursing areas
Assist Administration in planning, implementing, training, and continuing education programs
Participate as an active member of the In-Service Education committee and assist with special programs
Participate in the establishment, interpretation, and implementation of Nursing Service Philosophy, objectives and policies, and recommend policy changes
Follow through, as needed, on information given by shift report, resident, or family regarding resident concerns.
Coordinate and conduct NURSING IN-SERVICES
Perform other task and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
High School graduate or equivalent
Experience:One (1) year related experience in a medical environment preferredWorking knowledge of electronic medication systems a plus but not required
Licenses/Certifications:
General Qualifications:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Statement of history of no abuse or neglect
- Reliable transportation
- Documentation of immunizations
- Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate
