The OSW GIS Analyst (US) is a critical role within the Offshore Renewables Business, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projects and large work packages for various projects within the US.
Working within the Engineering Management team and reporting to the GIS Team Lead for US Offshore Wind , the OSW GIS Specialist will be responsible for GIS analysis and data management for US offshore wind projects.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for GIS analyses and services for offshore wind projects.
- Implementation of offshore GIS technical standards, procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements appropriate for large scale offshore windfarm with multi-contract work packages.
- Creation, review and storage of geospatial data and metadata.
- Provision of GIS drafting/cartographic services as required by the offshore business.
- Development and implementation of advanced geospatial data analysis.
- Maintenance of the online GIS environment and creation of webapps and geoprocessing tools.
- Working with internal and external customers to support data requests either planned or unplanned.
- Collaboration with external consultants to deliver program requirements.
- Contribute to the development of specialist knowledge and practice within the business.
- Provision of documentation and training in use of custom tools to the end users to ensure high standards of use.
- Coordinate with a team of internal and external GIS Analysts working on other GIS project supporting offshore wind projects, lease acquisitions, interconnection strategy, permitting and citing.
Skills and Requirements
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, Spatial Analyst, 3d Analyst, and data interoperability.
- Advanced skills with GIS (ESRI) in the context of geospatial data processing, analysis, data management and presentation.
- Familiarity with raster data formats, management and processing methods
- Experience with task automation tools, coding languages or/or model-building concepts.
- Capacity to work independently to provide and technical solutions to engineering challenges using GIS.
- Good digital cartographic and map production skills.
- Ability to work in a team and in a client office environment.
- Good written, presentational and customer-facing skills regarding GIS and Engineering
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
- Attention to detail.
- Proactive attitude
Preferred Qualifications (Certifications, Specific Types of Experience, Industry Experience, Desired Computer Skills, Etc.)
- Degree in GIS, data analysis or another relevant subject.
- Experience in the offshore wind sector.
- Python (ArcGIS); demonstrable skills in working with Arcpy library including mapping, cursors, dictionaries, lists, functions, etc.
- Python (Standard); demonstrable skills in working with default and third-party libraries; with an emphasis on Excel and CSV data manipulation using libraries such as xlrd, pandas, and numpy.
- Experience in handling CAD to GIS Conversion
- Experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Experience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Collector, Survey123.
- Experience with 3D modeling and gamification software (3D Studio Max, Unity, Unreal etc.)
- Experience with ESRI enterprise server deployment and maintenance
