Workspace As a member of VCA Canada, VAERC is a rapidly growing Emergency and Specialty Hospital offering Emergency, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology and Cardiology services. VAERC has had a four (4) decade presence in Vancouver and we moved to our state of the art facility in July 2016. Position Overview The role of the Client Care Specialist (CCS) is to strengthen the client, animal, veterinary bond through exceptional client service and education. Your role is vital to the success of our hospital! You are the first and last point of client contact and have the ability to leave a lasting impression by building trust and loyalty with our clients.  Your responsibility is to enhance the client’s experience by coordinating between clients and members of the medical team. Your primary goal is to ensure the clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for and appreciated. Desired Attributes and Requirements We are seeking candidates with previous veterinary experience. As the ideal candidate, you are mature, reliable, organized, and self-aware. 1-2 years of experience as a receptionist in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter Professional verbal and written communication skills Strong command of veterinary terminology, common veterinary medical conditions/emergencies, and veterinary “shorthand” Exceptional client service skills Empathetic, collaborative, and positive attitude Ability to work without direct supervision and to complete tasks/assignments independently Above-average time management skills Good understanding of the functions of practice management software and electronic medical records. (VCA uses proprietary practice management software and training is provided) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Adobe) Accuracy in basic math skills. Previous knowledge of Moneris POS terminals/cash handling is an asset Basic knowledge of office electronics – multi-line phone systems, iPads, photocopiers, printers Strong attention to detail & accuracy when recording/relaying information Compensation: $16.75 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
