General Purpose:

The Store Manager is responsible for directing and managing the overall activities for a specific PrairieLand Partners (PLP) location including Sales, Service, Parts, and Integrated Solutions Department objectives and processes. This position provides leadership in evaluating, allocating, and managing human, physical, and financial resources for the location. The Store Manager reports to the Regional Director.

  • Executes the business plan and achieves financial performance, including sales, market share, budgets, and cost control according to established goals for the location.
  • Optimizes the profitable growth of the business, the personal growth of employees, and the satisfaction of customers.
  • Assesses and validates capital expenditure needs of the store location.
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationship with all existing and new customers and resolves any elevated customer issues.
  • Ensures that appropriate communication takes place within and across all departments at the store location which may include leading regular department management staff meetings and all employee meetings.
  • Communicates with other location leaders to implement best practices and consistent processes for all departments within PLP.
  • Supports general management in implementing changes in any department within the location.
  • Ensures the successful planning and execution of marketing activities and events.
  • Oversees maintenance and security and ensures a professional appearance of the facility and property for the location.
  • Represents the company for the sale of machinery to key customers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of PrairieLand Partners.

 

 

 

Supervisory Duties:

  • Directly manages the Sales Representatives, Service Manager, Parts Manager, and Administrative Assistant staff in accordance with PLP's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work including goal and direction setting, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of PrairieLand Partners vision, mission, and values.
  • Ability to focus on and provide a high level of customer satisfaction of all external and internal customers with a goal of retaining customers.
  • Ability to promote and merchandise parts and accessories using all appropriate advertising methods.
  • Strong knowledge of maintaining exciting, attractive, and current merchandising and self-selection displays.
  • Ability to maintain an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes proper counter procedures to achieve managements goals for percent fill, customer service, and inventory turnover.
  • Ability to maximize appropriate order discount programs.

 

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.

 

Experience:

  • Two years of customer service experience is preferred.
  • One year of management experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a parts sales role is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

 

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.

  • Travel to customer locations, meetings, warehouses, and other store locations on a regular basis is necessary.
  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold); walking on uneven terrain; occasional exposure to insects.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform.
  • A clean and safety-conscientious working environment is required.
  • Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • May be required to rotate on-call responsibilities.

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Moderate physical activity required by moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
