Job Summary
- The Risk/Accreditation Quality Specialist is responsible for daily functions of the Avera Sacred Heart risk management, patient safety and accreditation programs. This includes risk identification, investigation reporting and analysis, loss prevention activities, claims handling, litigation support and management of patient safety activities.
- The Risk/Accreditation Quality Specialist will be responsible for the Hospital Patient Safety Committee and The Joint Commission Committee.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship.
- Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a clinical discipline from a four-year college or university required.
- Five-plus years clinical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated work experience utilizing critical thinking skills, process improvement, experience in professional interaction and communication with healthcare leaders, medical staff, patients and families.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Must have current RN licensure in the state of SD or “multi-state privilege” to practice in SD if residing in a compact state outside of SD.
Work Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm; 80 hours every 2 weeks
- No weekends, holidays, or call time!

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
