Aviagen is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the vacant position of Farm Supervisor for our Elkmont, Alabama location. The Farm Supervisor will be responsible for the overall care, bio-security and husbandry of the facilities and poultry. This position will insure that all programs and procedures are followed and implemented as described by company guidelines. These are to be followed by all who enter the facilities at all times. In so doing, maintaining a high degree of quality, while running an efficient and cost effective operation.

- Ensures the safety and efficiency of poultry farm operations.
- Prioritizes tasks and decides on the necessary machinery and number of workers.
- Assigns duties to farm workers and ensures that instructions are carried out timely.
- Oversees machinery necessary in performing tasks such as egg collection, etc.
- Responsible for training new workers, providing care to injured or ill livestock as well as enforcing workplace sanitation practices to prevent the spread of disease.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Poultry Science or related field or 5 years poultry experience is a plus but not required.
- Breeder and/or pullet experience with a background in vaccination, farm clean-outs, as well as farms and vehicle maintenance is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours - on call 24 hours a day.
- Must be a self-motivator with the ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
- Current driver's license.
- Good communication, organizational skills and inter-personal skills.
- Team oriented leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively motivate a team.
- Computer application skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
