The Manager, Payroll is responsible for coordinating payroll activities, collaborating with human resources and accounting team, directing, and supervising the payroll specialist, and ensuring efficient payroll processing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide oversight for the payroll bi-weekly reporting process and assist with Human Resources and Accounting related payroll matters.
- Own the Expense Management Module in Paycom and assist the Accounting Team with the employee reimbursement process.
- Ensure payroll controls are in place and newly created when needed to ensure accuracy, quality, and payroll compliance.
- Manage all monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tasks, such as but not limited to, the Quarterly Safe Harbor Employer Match Census Workbook, the Paycom Year-End Checklist, Future Plan Year-End Census Workbook, the U.S. Census Bureaus Report of the Organization survey, and the UST Wage Verification survey.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving the 401k/Roth/Loan upload and archiving the timesheet period after each pay date is processed.
- Lead for the 401k audit and assist with other monitoring/financial statement audits.
- Responsible for all ad-hoc payroll reporting requests and payroll projects.
- Identify efficiencies and areas of improvement with Paycom and other payroll related activities.
- Manage the Paycom training documents and provide training and assistance to our new hires and current employees as needed.
- Ensure services provided are culturally responsive utilizing best practices.
- Develop an atmosphere for open and direct communication, establishing and clearly communicating performance expectations and ensuring effective delegation.
- Give prompt and constructive feedback to help train and develop employees.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or similar field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience with knowledge of a combination of the following: payroll, human resources, general ledger payroll accounting, employee reimbursement, invoice payment, allocations, compliance, and other accounting knowledge.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience or experience directing the work of others.
- Experience using an online payroll and human resource information system (Paycom is preferred).
- Able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination
PREFERRED:
- MBA or CPP certification preferred.
- Solid understanding of the entire payroll process with the ability to tackle per pay period and monthly needs (which can be voluminous at times).
- Ability to complete analytical analysis using proficient Excel skills (such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, formulas, data filters, sorting, etc.).
- Strong knowledge around employee changes, employee reimbursement, invoice payment, allocations, reconciliations, compliance, and other payroll and accounting functions.
- Willingness to be flexible with work hours to accommodate the needs of the participants. Expected to be available to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
