Awesome Inc exists to help people pursue their definition of awesome. Our work supports entrepreneurs and startup companies, remote workers and freelancers, and aspiring software developers both young and old. This role is with the technology training group at Awesome Inc, known as Awesome Inc U. We help adults and youth learn to code through a series of in-person courses. Our learning community takes a high-touch, project-based approach. We’ve helped more than 50 adults start new careers in tech, and guided more than 1000 kids to go beyond consuming to start creating with technology.
Job Overview
The Web Developer Bootcamp at Awesome Inc has helped more than 50 people make a career switch and land new jobs in tech. This is possible not only through our continuously-refined technical curriculum and experienced instructors, but also through great employer connections and plenty of employability prep for our alumni. This is where our Career Coach comes in. A great career coach leads with empathy, understanding the unique backgrounds of each of our students, as well as the unique needs and team cultures of area employers. The coach makes and maintains connections within the tech community, and works 1-on-1 with our Bootcamp students to accompany them through job applications, interviews, and offer negotiations.

Entry to Mid-level
Part-time
$20 /hr
Location: Downtown Lexington office remote
10-20 hrs / week commitment during the 9am - 5pm window. Some evening/weekend events on a monthly frequency.
Requirements
Goals
Software developer Bootcamp alumni land their first tech jobs within 6 months of completing program
Regional tech employers are aware of skills and availability of Bootcamp alumni
Bootcamp alumni have a primary contact at Awesome Inc for future job searches
Skills
Excellent written and oral communication (Email, Slack, blog posts)
Comfortable creating and updating spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel)
Comfortable managing meeting schedules (Google Calendar, Calendly, and Zoom)
Experience with career coaching, empathy, and delivering constructive feedback
Experience with B2B sales or business development
Familiar with CRM (Zoho, Salesforce, Hubspot, etc)
Sample Tasks
Schedule and host weekly job search progress meetings with each Bootcamp alumni (Spring and Fall cohorts, 13-20 students per cohort)
Create and execute workshops to help current students prepare resumes, LinkedIn profile, and sample cover letters
Coach alumni 1:1 on job interview and salary negotiation skills
Maintain and build relationships with regional employers of software developers through semi-annual calls, meetings, and email communication
Update job board and CRM software with details of alumni job search progress and employer hiring needs
