Axient/MEIS is seeking a System Administrator to join our Space Systems division. MEIS (an Axient subsidiary) supports NASA Ames Research Center in a variety of areas from Spaceflight to IT Management. The Entry Systems and Technology Division is composed of facilities, networks, IT equipment, software, and support services needed by projects to effectively and efficiently perform all mission functions. US Citizenship required.
What You Will Do...
Responsibilities include management of IT systems in support of unique project-related computational needs, including software installation and updates, lab system troubleshooting, system backups, while assuring compliance with all ARC, NASA, and Federal IT security requirements and services standards including:
Manage the IT infrastructure including printers (two usb), web servers, file servers, monitoring/logging services (utilizing agency standard Splunk, ITSEC-EDW for networked devices), & virtual machine environment

What You Will Do...
Responsibilities include management of IT systems in support of unique project-related computational needs, including software installation and updates, lab system troubleshooting, system backups, while assuring compliance with all ARC, NASA, and Federal IT security requirements and services standards including:
Manage the IT infrastructure including printers (two usb), web servers, file servers, monitoring/logging services (utilizing agency standard Splunk, ITSEC-EDW for networked devices), & virtual machine environment
- Includes installing upgrades to existing systems for addressing system operability risk.
- A current (July/Aug 2024) effort shall be supported in installing new servers and Storage Area Network solutions for the TS Networked systems.
- Maintain network records and coordinating with Center-wide networking group for planned maintenance, installations, and other issues.
- Provide technical expertise for division or laboratory driven special projects that require IT or facilities support. This may include hardware or software integration, defining requirements, and laboratory expansions and integrations.
- Provide configuration management of Division IT systems and address risk/findings identified during the annual IT system assessment of Division IT systems.
Skills You Will Need...
Required Experience:
- 5 years working experience as a systems Administrator.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or similar relevant STEM degree; Years of experience can potentially replace degree requirement.
- Understanding of basic Cybersecurity requirements.
- Knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, UBUNTU etc.
- Hands on experience with MySQL
- Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts
- knowledge in Shell, Perl, and/or Python scripting
- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
- Software languages – Knowledge of shell scripting, C , Java;
- Firm Knowledge of Excel, Adobe, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, RSA Archer (RISCS)
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
- Onsite at least 3-4 days per week.
- US Citizen
- Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
- One or more of the following Certifications
