Job Posting for Senior Production Manager at Ballast Point
Position Summary:
The Senior Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire Production team (packaging operations) at Ballast Point. This role leads the staff, processes, efficiencies, production goals, and quality of all products that are produced at Ballast Point.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee and lead the entire Production department (packaging, canning, bottling operations) at Ballast Point, including execution of all planned production
Ensure quality control of all Ballast Point produced products
Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure an efficient packaging schedule and product delivery
Collaborate cross-functionally to forecast brewery and production costs and labor allocation
Drive key process improvement initiatives for optimized efficiencies, cost-savings initiatives, and implementation of new equipment, materials, and metric
Assist the Director of Brewery Operations with new equipment commissioning and procurement
Ensure packaging material inventory is correctly maintained and counted
Collaborate with Quality team to conduct quality checks, SOP alignment, process audits, and monitor production reports to ensure adherence to Ballast Point quality standards and performance
Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure all production department SOPs meet equipment standards, and conduct routine preventative maintenance to maximize machine output and longevity
Clearly communicate performance expectations to direct and indirect reports while providing constructive, developmental, and consistent feedback
Hire, train, equip, and manage production team members to ensure excellence, quality and in-depth understanding of roles and responsibilities and develop training and mentorship programs to improve the skills of workers
Model and promote a respectful, inclusive work environment
Ensure staff are aligned with company policies and procedures and oversee staff discipline where necessary
Ensure accurate paid time off requests, meal breaks, overtime, and labor allocation
Optimize Production department communication protocols
Champion a safety-first culture and ensure staff follow all safety protocols
Develop, maintain, and implement Production department specific SOPs, tracking, and planning
What You'll Need:
3 years supervisory experience
5 years of beverage or manufacturing experience-
Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience
Outstanding, effective leadership skills
In-depth understanding of brewery principles and practices, including manufacturing equipment, process flow, process control, and expert knowledge in beer production, storage and packaging
Ability to plan, schedule, and budget effectively
Ability to manage time and complex deadline-driven workload; includes planning, organizing, setting reasonable priorities and good follow-through
Proven organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication skills
Analytical skills with the ability to present data and propose data-driven solutions
Proficient with computer functions
Working knowledge of ERP systems
Mechanical aptitude with a in-depth understanding of all areas of safety and packaging standards and skill set related to and cognition of mechanical, electrical and industrial systems.
Flexible work schedule, including ability to support staff on weekends, day, swing or graveyard shifts
