Bancroft is a leading service-provider for children and adults with autism, other intellectual or developmental disabilities or those in need of neurological rehabilitation.
We provide a full continuum of highly effective services for people of all ages and every level of abilities based on best practices and scientifically proven techniques.
Our services include special education, vocational training, supported employment, structured day programs, group home and apartment programs both on-campus and in the community, short-term behavioral stabilization services for children, and in-home and outpatient rehabilitation services.
The Therapeutic Activities Specialist provides supportive and structured day services that develop life skills and personal enrichment through meaningful and productive activities.
Develops active treatment programs designed to further enhance the skills of each person by using, but not limited to, music, art, horticulture, health and wellness, and / or multi-sensory experiences.
Background in Performing Arts requested, and ability to play an instrument (Guitar, Ukulele, Keyboard) preferred.
Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities :
Designs and provides direct and consultative day services to persons served :
Develops structured, meaningful, and enriching activities to teach life skills and promote the personal development of each individual.
identifies barriers that may impede individual progress, and recommends environmental accommodations to support functioning and facilitate the generalization of skills.
Uses a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, accountable, and conforms to federal, state and other applicable policies and procedures;
develops and maintains progress reports, session notes, treatment summary reports, etc., as required by the IPP
Contributes in facilitating a team approach to program development, implementation, and monitoring by effectively collaborating with all specialty / clinical disciplines, parents / guardians, residential and day program staff, etc.
to identify and best meet the individual needs of each person we support.
Qualifications
High School Diploma and 6 months related experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field preferred.
Prior experience working individuals who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability / autism preferred. Cooking skills also required.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required with a strong desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism.
Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team required. Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques required.
Attainment of CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification within first 90 days of employment required.
Valid driver’s license required in incumbent’s legal name and current address with no provisional restrictions. Minimum 18 years of age required.
