RETAIL BANKING MANAGER
Overview:
The Retail Banking Manager is responsible for the overall management and general direction of the company's retail banking business in the branch. The Retail Banking Manager is a hands-on position and will serve as a universal banker as needed in the branch, actively promoting BankSouth locally/regionally through civic and social participation. This position will promote BankSouth's corporate vision and deliverables daily. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all organizational policy and regulatory requirements and administers them to minimize risk to the organization. Recommends other services such as treasury products, merchant services, and consumer banking products based as applicable to the customers needs. All functions listed in this job description may not be applicable to every incumbent Retail Banking Manager
Responsibilities:
- Meeting periodically with other operational staff to ensure proper engagement, alignment and delivery of Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, and other electronic consumable products between the operational units.
- Employee supervision and performance evaluation, establishing, monitoring, and communicating sales goals, market share and overall success to the regional team via sales meetings, celebrations, rewards, Intranet, and miscellaneous channels.
- Providing/supporting sales & service training as needed, modeling key sales and service behaviors and disciplines. Ongoing regional deposit production activities, including developing deposit and referral sources to generate new business, producing deposit accounts (self-portfolio), providing oversight of deposit production of retail team, building and vendor management.
- Serve as a Universal Banker as needed in the branch.
Leadership Requirements:
- Provide leadership to and set an example of desired behavior for the team in interactions with internal and external customers
- Observes and reviews performance of lead teller, universal bankers, personal bankers, and tellers to ensure use of their cross-selling techniques in accordance with the performance appraisals and discussed needed changes with each individual
- Deliver on the spot coaching when applicable to ensure consistent growth and development of each member of the team
Customer Service:
- Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices, and products.
- Assist other departments and branches with transactions as needed, provide support for the department and branch managers in fulfilling customer requests and merchant verifications.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to allow the team to be consistently ready, responsive, and respectful to every customer and to their team
- Other duties as assigned by management
Compliance Requirements:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal banking laws and regulations
- Maintain confidentiality of all customer files and proprietary (physical, electronic, and intellectual) Bank property
- Satisfactorily complete all required Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC compliance training and complies with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position
Loan and Deposit Production:
- Ongoing engagement with loan and deposit sales team to produce new relationships.
- Secure proper authorization on variances
Loan structure/pricing activities, (as applicable):
- Proactive, offensive knowledge of what the competition Is offering
- Respond to customer requests/opportunities timely and with appropriate product offerings and solutions
- Demonstrate initiative and follow through on goals and objective
Key Results Areas:
- Successful sales of new deposit products
- Achieve effective maximization of alternative delivery channels like mobile check deposit, mobile banking, online banking, and e-Statements
- Core deposit growth in accordance with Bank goals through cross-selling and other initiatives
- Consumer loan growth in accordance with Bank goals
- Satisfactory service and maintenance of new and existing customer relationships
- Satisfactory compliance with all internal and external operating procedures, laws, and regulations
Experience & Education:
Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. A high school degree or equivalent experience is required; bachelors degree in relevant field is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Any other certifications, experience, or skills requirements in a small paragraph
Other Requirements:
Satisfactorily complete all required compliance training and compliance with all laws and regulations that apply based on the scope of this position.
Interpersonal Skills:
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.
Physical Requirements:
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.
Mental and/or Emotional Requirements:
Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
