Role and Responsibilities
The CNC Operator Lead is a working level supervisory role. The Operator Lead is expected to provide oversight & direction to team members, as well as directly operate CNC Routers and Waterjets. The primary role of the CNC Operator Lead is to ensure that CNC’s are operating efficiently and that each job meets quality standards. Further, the CNC Lead is responsible for ensuring that all equipment is functioning properly, and that health and safety protocols are adhered to and monitored.
To be successful in this role the individual must be able to multitask, oversee 3-5 team members simultaneously, have excellent time management abilities as well as strong interpersonal relationship skills.
The following list describes areas of responsibility. It is intended to be a general outline and not an all-encompassing list.
· Safety will be at the forefront of all we do.
· Make decisions regarding machine set up, fixturing, and cutting strategies.
· Monitor & correct programs, and write machine programs when necessary.
· Ensure that rates are achieved, and that efficiency is maximized on every job.
· Coordinate movement of material in order to optimize machine efficiency.
· Be able to recognize opportunities for yield improvement, and modify programs to achieve yield improvements
· Ensure that every job meets our quality standards and the customer’s expectations.
· Minimize machine downtime.
· Ensure that all jobs are set up correctly using jigs and/or fixtures in as many cases as possible so that repeatable success can be defined, and maximum efficiency achieved.
· Perform preventive maintenance on CNC’s and report all maintenance needs to the Manufacturing Operations Manager.
· Provide oversight and training to CNC operators.
· The CNC Lead will immediately address the Manufacturing Operations Manager with recommendations for all disciplinary action and collaborate as such on the problem and proposed solution.
· Assist quoting and design with cut rates and run times.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
The successful candidate will have certification or verifiable training of CNC programming/nesting software and a minimum of 5 plus Years of related job experience.
Preferred Skills
Soft Skills: The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills and be willing to set the example of expectations for your team members.
Hard Skills: Must have knowledge and ability to program CNCs, must understand feed rates and cutting tools for various materials, must be fluent in print reading, must have experience with quality protocols, effective with time management, must possess strong computer skills, must be driven to capture and report out on company metrics, should have experience with MS Excel, must be able to perform machine set ups, should have a strong working knowledge of material flow through a manufacturing facility

Manufacturing Personnel work Four 10-Hour days, Monday through Thursday, unless overtime is needed. Overtime shall be worked on Fridays and Saturdays if/when needed.
The core hours of this role are: Monday through Thursday, 5:45 AM to 4:30 PM. It is the expectation that the CNC Operator Lead arrives on time, every day.
The CNC Operator Lead is expected to be at work when overtime is needed for CNC operators.
