Credit Analyst
As a Credit Analyst, the responsibilities you will perform in this position are a core function that directly impact new business and portfolio credit quality. Some of these responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Review historical financial statements and anticipate changes to direct or redirect efforts to stay ahead of changes or trends
- Assign, review and edit risk ratings changes which may include complex scenarios
- Prepare credit approval memos to assess a borrower’s financial condition, industry, management qualifications and other criteria that could impact a borrower’s creditworthiness
- Be able to identify and assess risks of a borrower's business and industry
- Participate in quarterly credit review meetings
- Assist new business originators with new credit approvals
- Assist with running pricing models and validating pricing through other comparative means such as Bloomberg data
- Participating in the collection of delinquent payments, including a specialty area of U.S. Government finance
The Opportunity
Barings Equipment Finance a/k/a MassMutual Asset Finance has an immediate opening for a Credit Analyst to join their collaborative team. As a Credit Analyst for an equipment finance company who is well respected in the industry, you will analyze, evaluate and assist with commercial credit underwriting and monitoring of loan and lease customers. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from more experienced members and take on increasing responsibility in all facets of origination and credit administration.
The Team
Equipment Finance is a national equipment finance company managing over $9 billion in assets and originating $1 to $2 billion a year in new credit requests. The team is comprised of credit analysts, business origination/relationship managers, operations staff, documentation staff and accounting staff. You will be joining an efficient and entrepreneurial team that emphasizes operational excellence and profit generation. You will also have exposure to senior leaders and if desired, this position provides a path for continued professional growth, development advancement opportunities.
The Minimum Qualifications
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in accounting or finance
- At least 2 years of experience in a financial analysis role
- Familiarity with spreadsheets and data analysis tools
The Ideal Qualifications
- Familiarity with Financial Statements, including cash flow, leverage metrics and capital structure
- Work experience in credit analysis and commercial lending activity
- Prior experience in working in a commercial finance operation, preferably with some knowledge of leasing (bank, corporate finance office)
