Job Overview:
Prepares, seasons & cooks food for hospital patients, hospital cafe, meals on wheels program and special functions for both on and off sites while maintaining a sanitary and safe work environment following all state and local health codes
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year hotel /restaurant cooking experience
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised in a restaurant style facility
Scheduling Requirements:
- Per Diem
- Flexibility and ability to work weekends required
- Evening shift- hours vary between 6:30am to 2:30pm, 5am to 1:30pm, and 11am to 7:30pm
Essential Functions:
- Prepares required amount of food to cover meals
- Consistently follows recipes when preparing food
- Frequently tastes food for quality assurance
- Takes temperatures daily following local and state codes
- Stores and labels food properly
- Follows daily and weekly cleaning schedule
- Demonstrates five star standards with staff, patients and customers
- Prepares fresh products daily
- Reviews daily production sheets to properly identify type and quality of food to be prepared
- Minimizes waste and over production
- Rotates food items on an FIFO A95 basis
- Insures all foods are kept at proper holding temperatures
- Successfully performs batch cooking
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Responsible for quality, appearance taste
- Attends all department and hospital meetings when scheduled
