What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Team Lead (3rd Shift) position at BARNES?
Core Responsibilities:
- Communicate to area lead (if applicable) and operators to ensure planner set priority is executed.
- Schedule work load in each area with proper manpower and equipment with focus on Lean Manufacturing and Flow principles.
- Communicate quality, safety and engineering issues/requests to appropriate level to assure proper support.
- Schedule manpower coverage to meet daily production requirements, vacations and cross-training as needed.
- Assist in execution of OTD of product to the customer by working closely with the Supervisor and Planner.
- Expedite workload gaps through Product Lines to ensure production schedules are met.
- Weekly reporting and follow up on productivity metrics.
- Daily focus on scrap and rework reduction.
- Daily focus on productivity and pitch charts.
- Responsible for cell productivity and quality metrics.
- Support, direct and insure accountability for employees in cell.
- Identify Lean process improvement opportunities for cell.
- Identify cross training opportunities and communicate to Supervisor. Manage employee cross training ensuring proper documentation maintained.
- Communicate all process and technical data changes to operators.
- Cross train personal as needed in processes or procedures.
- Maintain/Improve personal cross training knowledge base per training procedures and documentation maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a leadership role.
- Must be able to use basic math to add, subtract, multiply, or divide. May work with fractions, decimals or percentages.
- Ability to communicate verbally or in writing effectively to others.
- Must have excellent organization, people skills, and experience working with others effectively.
- Working towards or willing to complete degree program preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
