What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at BARRDAY?

Summary

This position works with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to help ensure the Millbury production operations operate to the full extent of their technical capabilities. The ideal candidate is a self-directed person who is never satisfied with the status quo and uses a methodical, data based approach to drive improvements. A well rounded generalist who can draw on the expertise of the existing team and enjoys contributing his/her specific expertise to the team will thrive in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Engineering team to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
  • Assist Engineering/Facilities with capital improvement projects
  • Recommend changes and equipment that will improve operations safety and production
  • Modifying equipment and processes to accommodate new products and improve safety, consistency and yield
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues
  • Prepare and interpret engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings.
  • Assist facility in establishing lean manufacturing principles and practices
  • Train operators on new equipment, processes and production changes
  •  Work with EH&S to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements
  •  Assist with development of preventative maintenance plans and perform preventative maintenance as needed
  •  Other duties as assigned

Key Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/Trade school in the mechanical studies or equivalent experience
  • Experience/knowledge of equipment modification and automation
  • Hands on experience operating and working on manufacturing equipment
  • Reliable self-starter who is flexible and adaptable with good listening and organizational skills
  • Able to lift, climb, work in tight areas
  • CAD experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Working Conditions

Working in our Millbury manufacturing facility will require a high degree of interaction with all aspects of the business, especially engineers, equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
