Nevada Gold Mines is looking for a Senior Environmental professional to join the Environmental group at Carlin. The successful candidate will perform a variety of technical and administrative work to ensure that all legal and other compliance obligations related to air quality permits and programs are achieved.
Responsibilities :
- Ensure all legal and other compliance / permitting obligations associated with the Title V Air Permit, Mercury Operating Permit, Federal MACT, and GHG reporting regulations are achieved
- Oversee maintenance of existing air compliance systems and the development of new systems, when needed
- Communicate with regulatory agency personnel, site managers, corporate resources, legal counsel, and other interested stakeholders
- Oversee inspections of mine operations to ensure permit compliance and accompany regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections of the mine site
- Lead, manage, and develop Environmental Engineers, Coordinators, and Technicians, as assigned, by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation, and reporting of collected data to governmental agencies and Corporate Sustainability
- Manage business partners as needed to complete permit applications and work with agency personnel to obtain approval of permit modifications
- Manage the stack testing program from schedule coordination with the stack testing company, through review and submittal of the report to appropriate regulatory agencies
- Prepare semi-annual and annual compliance reports, as assigned.
- Act in a customer service role to ensure Operations personnel understand air permit obligations and guide in air permitting decisions to assist operating division personnel in achieving their objectives
- Assist with training of NGM employees, contractors, and others
- Responsible for periodic, after hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.
- This position requires the ability to regularly walk over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet or icy ground and the ability to lift 40 or more pounds consistently and safely.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field required
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions required
- Three (3) or more years in a mining environment preferred
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Comprehensive knowledge of Title V air permitting regulations required
- Experience with NESHAPs for Gold Mine Ore Processing and Production Area Source Category (7E) and the Nevada Mercury Control Program preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
- In-depth experience with Excel required
- Experience with database programs preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential responsibilities of the position required
- Experience in other environmental media (water, waste management, lands etc.) preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of permitting processes relative to NDEP preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 : 2015 preferred
