Where the Chemistry Happens
We are looking for a candidate like you to provide drafting support, expertise, and leadership for a central drafting team responsible for maintaining P&IDs, PFDs, and related control documents. You will be responsible for the functional leadership and technical support for a team consisting of 2-6 contracted drafters who develop and maintain P&IDs and PFDs. You will collaborate with a team of designers, engineers, project managers, and technologists to create and maintain P&IDs/PFDs for capital projects and running-plant as-builts.
As a P/ID Coordinator, you create chemistry by…
- Coordinating all incoming drafting requests including capital projects and as-built revisions.
- Managing the schedule and priority of new drafting requests.
- Maintaining documentation to track every new drafting request, work status, backlog, and revision history.
- Maintaining the native CAD file archives for P&IDs, PFDs, lead sheets and line list and specialty item list archives for the Geismar Site.
- Providing training on reading and marking up P&IDs both on an individual one-on-one basis and in a group class environment.
- Driving Continuous Improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, implementing best practices, and developing/maintaining standard operating procedures.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance to BASF standards and monitoring the overall productivity and work quality of the contracted drafting team.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

- Possess a strong sense of collaboration as you support internal customers consisting of capital project teams (designers, engineers, etc.) and operations personnel.
- Expertise in MicroStation, MS Office, Bluebeam along with a desire for future learning and development around more advanced digital plant systems (Hexagon SDx, Smart P&ID, laser scanning, etc.)
- Knowledge of design and drafting principles, management of CAD archives customary for capital projects and master-stick as-builts in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- High standards for quality and customer focus.
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
