What you'll do

The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment will work Full-time, Days, Hybrid Optional and will lead the recruitment and retention of all physicians and advanced practitioner clinicians to grow the practitioner complement for the Bassett Healthcare Network. They will oversee the Medical Staff Recruitment department, responsible for mentoring staff and partnering with them to improve processes to increase the effectiveness of the team.

The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment also leads the department by creating strong partnerships with physician leaders throughout the healthcare system as well as senior leaders at Bassett to ensure the best candidates are hired to meet the communities’ needs.

  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment oversees day-to-day operations of recruitment of well-qualified candidates for Medical Staff openings and the retention programs for newly signed and hired practitioners.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment ensures that physician service line chiefs are kept informed regarding progress with searches and develop a matrixed approach to communications, so all stakeholders are informed about recruitment activity for positions that impact their operations.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements strategies for targeted recruitment of physicians and advanced practice clinicians by partnering with vendors and contingency companies for specific recruitment tactics. Evaluate the ROI on different strategies to better target resources for future searches.
  • Ensures all Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and applicant tracking features of the online system are used to their fullest capacity for prospects, candidates and newly signed practitioners. Support training of staff on the tool and ensure regular in-services are provided by the vendor.
  • Represents clinical departments and the Bassett Healthcare Network for recruiting purposes at medical conferences; virtual and on-site career fairs and APC lunch and learns.
  • Reports monthly metrics on recruitment to senior leadership regarding open positions, scheduled interviews, offers, signed contracts, and turn times on key metrics such as days from interview to offer.
  • Partners with Bassett Marketing to ensure all recruitment materials are on brand and Marketing has sufficient lead time and details to deliver on requests for collaterals, ad copy and conference displays. A partnership with Marketing will also be required to develop an effective Bassett website presence for recruitment and for the use of digital recruitment tools.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment ensures the searches are launched with complete salary information and that internal approvals required by Bassett’s leadership team.
  • Ensures needed locum coverage is secured upon request by service line chief and with approval from Bassett’s leadership team.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment facilitates support and/or involvement from civic leaders, physician spouses/partners, area businesses, etc, for recruitment and community onboarding efforts.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition and acclimation of physicians and families through the physician retention program.
  • Oversees the retention specialists and review data and insights gained from stay interviews.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment ensures information from stay interviews is shared monthly with BMG leadership and the appropriate service line chief.
  • Provides support for retention specialists when they are following up issues that are problematic for the newly hired physician or APC.
  • Develops and implements an onboarding process and orientation day to be led by the retention specialists for newly hired physicians and APCs that provides a welcoming, fun experience while providing the required education and functions needed to join the medical staff at Bassett. Using feedback from participants, continually improve the program to represent Bassett as its very best.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment ensures the coordination of the day-to-day activities required for Visa support of physicians and APCs in coordination with Bassett immigration counsel. Ensure coordination of documentation to support all Visa filings. Monitor eligibility of Visa opportunities for new openings working in concert with service line leadership and the chief clinical officer.
  • The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment mentors staff and foster their professional growth by ensuring they have access to training and attend their professional conferences as appropriate. Provide timely, annual constructive performance appraisals and regular feedback as needed.
  • Prepares the annual department budget and oversee the fiscal management of the department ensuring all expenses are appropriate and reimbursements are made in a timely manner. Must be committed to being a good steward of Bassett financial resources.
  • Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.

What we need from you

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Management or another related field, required
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Management or another related field, preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional level experience in recruitment or talent acquisition required. Must have extensive customer service experience as well as proven background in roles with high organizational visibility.

  • At least 4 years of direct Physician Recruitment experience required

  • At least 5 years of experience leading a team and managing departmental operations

Licensure/Certificates:

  • Clean, valid NYS driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Pay Range Minimum

USD $109,200.00/Yr.
Pay Range Maximum

USD $163,779.20/Yr.


Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
