What you'll do

The Neuroscience Technician I will work Full-Time, Days and performs diagnostic testing with digital or analog testing equipment

  • The Neuroscience Technician I patients may be less than one year old, but the majority will be young adults through and up to the elderly.
  • Understand and apply testing techniques that are appropriate for the patient age and presumptive presenting medical problem.
  • Technical process and interpretations will be fully in accordance with written department policy and procedure.
  • The Neuroscience Technician I performs all necessary functions prior to completion of diagnostic EEG testing. Maintains competent level of knowledge for self and provides instruction to students and residents.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of department equipment. This is applicable to both diagnostic equipment and information gathering equipment.
  • The Neuroscience Technician I performs operations correctly and notifies appropriate personnel of malfunctions.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement Program for the Neuroscience Department.
  • The Neuroscience Technician I schedules diagnostic testing for patients, submits charge records, and completes daily logs.

What we need from you

Education/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience:

  • No prior experience is required

Licensure/Certificates:

  • BLS certification required

Skills:

  • Will provide clear direction to patients.
  • Will appreciate and understand all current issues regarding confidentiality and sharing information.
  • Will recognize normal and abnormal sleep and wake digital traces, and be able to acquire artifact free data.
  • Duration of data acquisition is outlined by department policy. Preparation for data acquisition will involve correct chemical application techniques.
  • Will understand and use all mechanical and physiological calibrations prior to patient testing

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and bending over required throughout shift
  • Ability to lift and position patients required
  • Must be able to push/pull 50lbs
  • Dexterity required calibrating diagnostic equipment.
