What you'll doThe Supervisor, Business Operations will work Full Time, Days under the direction of the Laboratory Director and is responsible for effective business elements of the Bassett Laboratory Services.
Responsibilities include:
- The Supervisor, Business Operations has direct supervision of billing, coding, and customer service staff, oversight of processing of patient and interdepartmental charges for all laboratory services including pathology charges, charge entry and submission verification.
- The Supervisor, Business Operations has direct responsibility for revenue cycle management including maintenance of the charge master for all laboratory services, maintenance of charge codes in the LIS, tracking of statistics for revenue and expense results that support the overall business objectives of the Department.
- The Supervisor, Business Operations is responsible to work with each manager throughout the network to prepare annual budget for all Clinical Laboratory and assist the Director and respective Managers in monitoring adherence to the budget.
- The Supervisor, Business Operations performs routine review and reporting of budget variance, contract review and regular review of late charges recommending changes to reduce late charge rates and preparing reports of findings to the Director of the Laboratory and the Vice President of Clinical Services.
What we need from youEducation/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Bachelor’s in Clinical Laboratory Science (Medical Technology) preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences, Statistics, or related science.
Experience:
- Three years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, management and staff.
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and budgeting software required.
- Proven ability to organize and manage complex systems and projects is required.
- Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding is required.
Licensure/Certificates:
- Licensed in NYS as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred.
Skills:
- Understanding of basic accounting principles, knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of hospital/physician billing practices is required.
- A record of initiative, demonstrated acceptance of responsibility, and decision-making.
- Exceptional written and oral communication with interpersonal skills to communicate effectively.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills, with motivation to meet deadlines in fast-paced, changing environment.
- Working knowledge of billing, compliance and HIPAA regulations, The Joint Commission standards, AABB and CLIA regulations.
- Knowledge of quality processes and procedures with focus on lab medicine desired.
- Strong facilitation skills, teambuilding and mentoring skills and be able to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to lead and/or participate on performance improvement teams.
- Knowledge of PI and patient safety principles.
- Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills and knowledge of statistics desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- General office environment with periodic requirement to enter patient cares areas.
- Occasional traveling to and from health centers and/or affiliates.
- Significant computer time required as well as sitting reviewing data and time keyboarding.
- Occasionally may require lifting up to ten pounds of paper files and routinely lifts files weighing up to five pounds.
