The Quality Engineer will support the SPIE Element of the MSMAS Contract supporting MSFC NASA SMA in Huntsville, Alabama.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and develops S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.
- Prepare, evaluate and, provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related documentation including implementation of procedures, manufacturing processes, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.
- Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, program requirements and Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Directorate Organizational Instructions.
- Participate in Government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.
- Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.
- Evaluate test results including the disposition of test anomalies and discrepancies.
- Support MRB participate in corrective action activity to improve product quality including participation in problem and failure investigations to determine root cause.
- Provide support on all quality areas to include Quality Plans, Surveillance Plans, Inspection Instructions, First Article Inspections, and NC resolutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:

- Must have a bachelor's degree (engineering degree desired, but related field acceptable).
- Must have 10 years of recent and related work experience.
- In lieu of degree: Candidates with 14 years of recent and related experience will be considered.
- Knowledge in NASA Spacecraft S&MA requirements for Manufacturing Processes in support of the design and development of Flight Hardware.
- Possess a working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9000 Quality Management System requirements.
- Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
- Ability to define and flow down engineering requirements to Approved Vendors; Perform Supplier Audits, Hardware Acceptance and/or Pedigree Review Activity; and adequately Assess and Report Risk.
DESIRED:
- Detailed understanding of Supplier Quality Management and Requirements Traceability.
- Effective working within a team environment and as a stand-alone subject matter expert.
- Experience writing GMIPS is highly desired.
- 15-20 years of experience desired
WORK LOCATION:
- This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule but may change in the future.
- Significant travel may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
ATTENDANCE:
- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
