This is a non-exempt position. Requirements for the PositionMassachusetts registration and licenseThree years hospital experience is required, at least one year of which involved acute admissions on either a medical, surgical or emergency servicePrior substance use disorder or mental health treatment experience preferredA COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the position. One COVID-19 shot is acceptable, contingent on the individual receiving the second shot within the allotted time frame.Mission Traits:Must be able and willing to work with individuals with substance use and mental health disorders in a respectful and compassionate mannerAbility to work in fast-paced environment Ability to multitask Ability to work as a team and independentlyAbility to uphold confidentiality standards and professional boundariesPhysical Qualifications: Must be physically able to participate in the Bay Cove CPR and CPI trainings and be able to endure the physical strain of performing CPR for several minutes while awaiting assistanceEssential Functions of Position:Responsible for care of patients on unit Monitors vital signs and notify M.D. as necessaryAssess changes in patient conditions Medicates PRN, according to standing ordersTelephone and initial screening of all patients for admission, obtaining as medically accurate history as possibleKeeps accurate nursing notes describing patients' physical conditions and activitiesRecords all medicationsEnsures supervision of orderliesPerforms narcotic count at beginning and end of shiftProvides thorough and accurate report of patients' status to oncoming shiftReports unusual events to Nurse Manager Observes for signs and symptoms of medication toxicityObserve for signs and symptoms of Psychiatric decompensation Conducts ongoing condition checks as required for patients on the unitSets appropriate boundaries/limits with patientsParticipates in ongoing discharge planning with counseling staff and administratorsSpecific to Shifts7a.m. - 3 p.m.Daily report with counseling staffAssure that capable patients attend meetings and other groupsAdmission Nursing Physical Assessment3p.m. - 11 p.m.Assure all capable patients attend commitment meetingsDo any filing of patient records (discharges) left by 7 to 3 shiftDaily report with counseling staff11 p.m. – 7 a.m. Rounds should be made at least every hour through the night for the most stable patients and more frequently according to need of the less stable patients Check on forms, making up charts Line narcotic book PRN Pull charts for patient to be discharged
