JOB SUMMARY:
Perform all tasks associated with creating and maintaining the cleanliness and neat appearance of buildings as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of cleaning techniques, cleaning materials and equipment. Attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Empty waste and recycling containers. Take waste and recycled materials to designated location.
- Perform all aspects of hard flooring maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, buffing, stripping and applying coatings of product.
- Perform all aspects of carpet maintenance, including vacuuming, spot cleaning and extracting
- Perform all aspects of restroom cleaning, including disinfecting of all fixtures, mirrors, walls and floors. Replenish paper and soap dispensers.
- Maintain the cleaning / dusting of windows, glass surfaces, windowsills, counter tops, walls, doors, water fountains, railings, stainless steel surfaces, light fixtures, vents, etc.
- Clean whiteboards and replenish markers, as needed.
- Maintain inventory of all custodial supplies. Keep all custodial and maintenance storage closets neat and clean.
- Maintain good repair to cleaning equipment.
- Maintain the overall cleanliness to the exterior entrance areas including patios.
- Clean exterior surfaces of buildings, including power washing.
- Maintain all furniture to be clean, orderly and in good repair.
- Set up and break down rooms for various meetings, functions and special events.
- Respond to requests and urgent issues that may arise.
- Report to management any repairs that are needed.
- Perform small repairs to building components and equipment
- Assist with snow / ice removal and general grounds maintenance, as assigned.
- Attend trainings as required.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Miscellaneous grounds duties when necessary. These duties can include, but are not limited to lawn mowing, line trimming, weeding, mulching etc.
- Must be available via cell phone or radio at all times.
- Check individual mail box daily (more frequently if required).
- Moving furniture and miscellaneous materials as assigned.
- Vacuuming furniture, floors, vents, radiators, drapes, etc.
- Required to wear company provided uniforms.
- Required to wear appropriate safety equipment while performing all duties requiring such equipment. Additionally, know proper use of and where to find all safety related equipment.
- Report hazardous and unusual situations to the appropriate authority.
This position is considered essential personnel. In the event of cancellation or delay of classes for any reason, essential personnel staff may be required to report to work. All essential personnel staff is responsible for reporting to work during and beyond their standard workweek days/hours due to inclement weather, emergency situations and special events as determined by the University or its designee.
If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.

Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to understand and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines governing the department.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships and deal tactfully with others.
- Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision, within (90) days from date employee begins work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
- Must successfully pass safe driving course within 30-days of employment.
- Failure to successfully complete the course within the 30-day period is grounds for immediate termination.
- Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.) and sexual offender record check (S.O.R.I.).
- Submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening and physical duties test.
- Ability to follow University policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
