Position Description: RN – Registered Charge Nurse

BayCare Health System is currently seeking a Registered Charge Nurse to join our outstanding and compassionate Med/Surg Surgical unit team at St. Joseph’s Hospital. As part of the community since 1934, St. Joseph’s Hospital has been a partner for continued health and wellness.

This unit is responsible for taking care of post op abdominal and thoracic surgery patients.

The Charge Nurse responsibilities include:

• • Proficiency in the care of a sub-specialty group of patients utilizing effective managerial skills.
  • Acting as a professional role model for other members of the nursing team.
  • Professional accountability and development.
  • Performing the role of preceptor and charge nurse.
  • Acting as a mentor and resource expert.

  Qualifications:

  Certifications and Licensures:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification is required
  • RN (Registered Nurse) license is required
  • ACLS Certification if required by department
  • RN Professional Nurse Specialty Certification within 7 months of hire/promotion in lieu of education. Certification must be RN Professional, nationally recognized and applicable to the current primary area of practice on the approved Clinical Registered Nurse Certifications Grid.
  • Nurse Specialty certification is preferred

  Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing, BS Healthcare related field, or RN professional nurse specialty certification is required within 7 months of hire or promotion

  Experience:

  • 18 months of RN experience in acute care is required
  • 1 year of leadership experience is preferred

Location: Tampa, FL

Status: Part Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM

Shift: Shift 1

Shift 1 = Days, 2 = Evenings, 3 = Nights, 4 = Varies

Weekend Work: Every Other

On Call: No
