What We Are Looking For

The Lab Coordinator for the Department of Occupational Therapy and Department of Physical Therapy supports the mission of Baylor University by being responsible for day-to-day management in all matters related to physical plant operations including availability and set-up of equipment and supplies. This position assists the Director of Operations in managing facilities and materials to ensure safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors associated with lab immersion experiences.

A Bachelor’s degree, one year of relevant work experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant work experience are preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the required degree.

  • Background in treatment facility/clinical management with a focus in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy.
  • Possess discretion when dealing with budgetary information.
  • Ability to multi-task and initiative to act with self-direction.
  • S trong organizational skills, commitment to best practices and ability to respond to changing priorities.

What You Will Do

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure appropriate scheduling, set-up, and restoration of facilities and materials related to onsite immersive learning experiences.
  • Provide instructional support related to facilities and equipment.
  • Manage an effective inventory system for departmental equipment and supplies to include recommendations for purchase, replenishment, and replacement.
  • Develop and document inventory control processes in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform clerical functions using appropriate information technology systems such as word processing, spreadsheet management, file sharing, and scheduling.
  • Assist in planning and conducting student orientation, commencement, and graduation activities.
  • Establish and support procedures to ensure safety and instructional effectiveness.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for student use during the didactic, fieldwork, and doctoral capstone components of the curriculum.
  • Facilitate student access to lab spaces during lab immersions, ensuring OT/PT faculty, staff and students have access as needed.
  • Support safety awareness of all faculty, including adjunct faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participate in collaborative relationships with internal and external individuals or organizations to promote and enhance the smooth operation of the laboratory.
  • Manage the preventative maintenance schedule for all designated equipment and supplies.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and revision of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between the OT and PT Departments and Baylor University Operations, including but not limited to facilities, institutional events, and Library and Academic Technology Services to coordinate support as appropriate.
  • Be competent in using various forms of technologies, including but not limited to: Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Outlook, Internet (i.e., Google), etc.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
  • Ability to comply with university policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Secondary Functions:

  • Attend OT and PT Department faculty and staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in OT and PT Department community service projects as time permits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the OT or PT Department Chairs and the Director of Operations.

Level of Independence:

Instructions and guidelines define overall goals and priorities under limited supervision. Decision making authority is limited to the supervisor.

Job Requirements:

The position requires significant contact with students, faculty, and staff and with internal and external constituents for management and coordination of facilities and materials related to onsite immersive learning experiences. This position requires extensive on-campus responsibilities. Travel is an expectation and requirement of this position.
