Position Overview
As the Sr. HR Generalist, you will be at the heart of the HR operations, ensuring tasks and duties are handled efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for planning workloads, allocating tasks, and monitoring progress to meet deadlines. Your role will also include overseeing the management of the workers' compensation program and Leave of Absence (LOA) benefits, as well as contributing to the development of policies and procedures to ensure state and federal compliance.
Essential Functions
- Decision Making and Compliance: Make financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible business decisions in line with company policies. Manage compliance processes and documentation required for state/government regulations, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- HRIS Management: Actively participate in the development and management of the company's HRIS. Understand system operations, develop tools, and features to meet employee and HR compliance needs.
- Employee Relations: Review employee complaints or grievances, conduct fact-finding investigations, and document thoroughly.
- Policy and Regulation Expertise: Demonstrate knowledge of HR concepts, laws, policies, and practices. Provide guidance and regulatory advice on workforce relations, including workers' compensation, LOA, and unemployment.
- Legal and Compliance: Communicate state and legal requirements to company and its employees/management.
- LOA Management: Oversee all LOA offerings, ensure documentation, and monitor cases. Stay in communication with employees and management.
- Off-Boarding Process: Coordinate and facilitate employee off-boarding, ensure completion of all required documentation, and monitor the process for compliance.
- Safety Standards: Maintain company safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure staff training.
- Support Across Locations: Schedule and perform regular office visits to company locations to support HR functions.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in meetings, workshops, training sessions, and seminars as assigned.
- Mentorship: Act as a mentor to HR Admin Staff, providing development and training.
Position Requirements
- Experience: 5 years as an HR Generalist with an emphasis on employee relations/investigations/management coaching, and knowledge of state and federal LOA laws and wage and hour laws.
- Experience in a Construction, Manufacturing or Blue Collar environment
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
- Licensing: Valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
