Description
The sales manager must be able to prospect, uncover, and network with potential clients, manage accounts, work to maintain a loyal customer base, and is responsible for carrying out all hotel sales related activities and marketing strategies. He or She must be able to work alongside the hotel staff along with managing the sales coordinator. The sales manager is responsible for booking of meeting space and producing banquet event orders.
The Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting, becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her segments and booking new local negotiated accounts and group business. The sales manager is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues.
Education & Experience:
- Hilton experience preferred.
- College Degree preferred.
- Participate in office coverage as assigned.
- Experience in a hotel and Minimum of 3 years in hotel and or related field preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Physical requirements:
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Meeting room set-up and breakdown sometimes required
- Late/Overnight shift.
Work environment:
- Indoor and outdoor hotel building, rooms, facilities, and structures
- Traveling will be required for events, trade shows and social events as needed during and/or after business hours.

Fundamental Requirements
- Must have previous hotel business transient and group sales experience.
- Attend daily BC Lynd Business Review (HHBR) meeting. Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations. Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team.
- Meet or exceed set goals for prospecting, conducting proactive outside sales appointments, and site tours.
- Participate in the required M.O.D. program.
- Initiate and follow up on sales leads in a timely manner.
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
- Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program.
- Participate in inviting clients to the hotel for breakfast, dinners, tours and site inspections.
- Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e., parties, sales blitzes, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
- Be familiar with all BC Lynd catering policies and banquet sales.
- Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
- Use your property's computerized Delphi system to manage the hotel's business, including (but not limited to) generating reports, entering business, blocking space, and building accounts.
- Meet and greet onsite contacts.
- Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST).
- Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities, and events.
- Review meeting planner evaluations with the Dual Director of Sales and General Manager to ensure that issues receive follow-up.
