This position has accountability for growth and profitability of assigned Commercial Markets business, to effectively manage the strategic goals for new business sales. This position will work with key internal business partners to ensure competitive product pricing and client results. Responsibility for development and management of new sales teams to successfully achieve department goals. This position represents all programs and services within the Blue Cross and its Affiliates product/service portfolio. This position is also responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans that build upon and maintain positive relationships with Blue Cross with internal/external strategic channel partners. A Day in the Life: Increase pipeline opportunities and close rates within the 2-99 account segment by developing, directing, and driving the distribution and direct prospecting strategies. Develop and drive a relationship management plan with key strategic purchasing influencers to improve market share and our reputation as an innovator and critical market player, while ensuring Blue Cross business objectives are met. Manage the department including interviewing and hiring employees, provide training including skill and career development, policy administration, coaching on performance management, cost control as well as and performance evaluations. Develop and implement new sales strategy for our strategic partners and consultants. Coach, develop, and motivate staff to capitalize on sales opportunities. Serve as a liaison with internal partners to communicate market needs and issues. This would include work on internal committees related to the market segment business plan or other items that directly impact our strategic partners, distribution channel and/or employer purchasers. Assist in the development of the broader strategy. Participate in development of new products and assists in refining current products and pricing offered. This includes strategic development efforts around defining market desires, pricing expectations and competitor evaluations. Establish and maintain positive relationships with strategic partners and distribution channel providing consultation and issue resolution. Collaborate with internal and external business partners to ensure market plans are followed and modify as market input dictates. Monitor and identify improvement opportunities, resource needs and solutions. Nice to Have: Bachelor’s degree. Previous staff, team lead or project lead experience. Required Skills and Experiences: 4 years' related experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. Demonstrated eye for business with the ability to lead, get results and excel in a collaborative environment. Advanced knowledge of health care environment. Familiarity with health plan product features, networks, sales cycles, claims trends and other business drivers of sales and account retention. Solid knowledge of health plan finance, underwriting and risk management. Proven ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in the face of ambiguity and within tight timeframes. Proven personnel motivation, mentoring and organizational change skills to empower and lead a skilled professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and organizational skills, to meet market plan objectives. Strong communication and diplomacy skills, including written, oral and presentation skills. Travel as required. Currently possesses or will acquire MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/Accident within 60 days of starting the job. Role Designation: Hybrid Remote Role designation definition: Teleworking is working full time remote. Hybrid is a combination of working onsite and remotely. Onsite is full-time onsite.
