What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiology Technician position at BCS Heart?
The Cardiology Technician assists with noninvasive cardiology laboratory procedures including cardiac pharmacological procedures, stress echocardiograms, treadmills, stress pulmonary function and other procedures. Assists Nuclear Medicine Technician and Physicians with patients.
- Assists to perform cardio-pulmonary, pharmacological and stress procedures, electrocardiograms, holter and event monitors, ECG and other procedures. Assists to maintain logs and records of the same.
- Verbally reports life-threatening situations to the appropriate Registered Nurse / Physician.
- Verifies physician’s orders for procedures. Obtains clinical history, including medication history.
- Properly labels all records and mounts for chart preparation.
- Communicates effectively with patients of all ages, and family member, to contribute to the quality of the ambulatory monitoring.
- Assists physicians in clinic with patients, test and procedure scheduling.
- Orders and maintain drugs and supplies required to perform diagnostic testing.
- Complies with clinic and departmental policies and procedures.
· Ability to multi-task and work in team environment
Required:
- High school graduate or G.E.D equivalent.
- One year experience as a Cardiology Clinical Technician.
- Basic knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of ECG readings and dysrhythmias.
- Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology.
- Excellent patient care skills
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support or able to obtain within first month of employment.
Preferred: familiarity with EMDs and Microsoft Office
