What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wedding Sales Manager position at Beach House Hilton Head Island?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively sell Wedding and Catering events to include (Social Events, School Events, Corporate Meetings, Fundraisers and Trainings) at a level to meet or exceed the budgeted requirements.
- Respond to all inquiries (phone, email, walk in) with goal to schedule a tour.
- Detail wedding and events from start to finish to include menu selections, set up, timeline of events, working in conjunction with the client and Banquet department.
- Be knowledgeable of competitive set and current markets to include participation in relevant trade shows.
- Manage communication between departments to help ensure coordination of activities. Ensure that all departments fully understand all pertinent details in order to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Monitor facility activities and make recommendations to improve customer service and/or operational efficiencies.
- Works with the Food & Beverage Director, Banquet Manager and others to schedule/coordinate personnel requirements for private functions.
- Assists DOS in the preparation of the marketing plan and annual budget to increase the profitability of the banquet operation; monitors performance against budgets; recommends corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met.
- Assure the efficient and timely submission of all catering sales reports as required quarterly by the hotel.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
- Prior experience in the field of hospitality with specific experience in Wedding Sales is essential.
- A creative individual with a passion for wedding and event management.
- Minimum of 5 years selling Weddings within the Hospitality Industry required.
- Must have experience at a similar size and quality hotel to include independent hotel property.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, SalesPro or Delphi.
- Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers.
- Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market.
- Ability to execute appropriate action plans.
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, and long-range planning.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
- Command of the English language both written and verbal.
- Mostly offsite, but must be willing to travel to the hotel for site visits and meetings with clients.
