Beacon Specialized Living Services is seeking an on-siteLearning & Development Field Trainer to facilitate trainings related to caring for individuals with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities. This role would be based out of Kalamazoo, MI
The Trainer partners with Operations Vice-Presidents, District Directors, Home Managers, and Direct Service Providers (DSP) to coordinate, facilitate, and monitor all training related activities for their assigned geographical area. The Trainer’s responsibilities include conducting in-person classroom and/or virtual training sessions; ensuring training compliance within their assigned geographical area; identifying learning opportunities; creating business partnership to ensure open and transparent communication; and participate in workgroups to develop learning materials for the field.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate and/or coordinate all required training including, but not limited to, on-boarding orientation, shadow shift(s); and competency assessments to ensure the implementation of high-performance standards.
Promote a strong learning-based environment and ensure that staff have access to top-of-the-line training and educational opportunities.
Maintain a positive and mentoring environment that both challenges employees to reach their potential and provides for a caring, people-first, atmosphere.
Participate in developing and achieving operational goals, objectives, and systems.
Ensure all training is documented in the Learning Management System (LMS).
Contribute to the development of all staff within their assigned geographical area by providing career advancement guidance. I.e., level system, lead training, and management programs.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of training report for leadership team including, but not limited to, training activities, number of attendees, training evaluations etc.
Maintain trainer certifications for CPI, Gentle Teaching, CPR, and other requirements determined by Beacon Leadership.
Provide upward and cross-department feedback on quality of new hires received in orientation, participants in training activities, and organizational training opportunities.
Partner with recruiters to provide direction on ideal candidates for individual homes.
Supports initiative to help reduce turnover by providing positive onboarding experiences and continuous learning opportunities.
Required Education and Experience
Three – Five Years of training experience, specifically onboarding new employees, facilitation in-person and virtual settings
Bachelor's degree in business, communication, teaching, or relevant
A background in mental health or healthcare is a plus.
Strong computer skills utilizing various software programs and applications.
This role requires travel 2-3 days a week, may require overnight stays.
