What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product UI Designer, Web - eLearning SaaS to Disrupt Lifelong Learning position at Bedrock Learning, Inc.?
Bedrock Learning, Inc. ((url removed)) is revolutionizing professional continuing education for enterprises with global interests. Its main product is an enterprise SaaS social learning network that, for users, offers coursework, “serious” games, and informational streams that are all inherently collaborative. For customers, Bedrock offers powerful analytics and insights to inform human capital strategy, leadership selection, and assignments. We aim for Bedrock to contribute to a more secure and prosperous world by improving how a wide variety of professionals learn, think, decide, and act. This is your chance to join an early-stage startup and deeply shape the look and feel of our core products.
We’re looking for a UI designer to help us iterate and refine our visual identity and interaction design as we take our product from Beta to Production. We're especially interested in folks who have experience building highly interactive SaaS products with sophisticated, intuitive UIs. The designer in this role will initially be focused on our core web application interface, but will also have the opportunity to work across all content verticals (games, coursework, community forums, and more).
Our v1 product is built; it has traction with customers and a defined roadmap. We have Figma designs that cover 75% of our vision but we are constantly iterating and refining them. We're out of stealth mode and onboarding our first users. This is an opportunity to help define and own the visual presentation of a SaaS product. We are looking for someone creative and thoughtful, with the desire to make a lasting impact on an early product.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design new features and interactions with an eye toward great UX and ease of use
Refine and improve existing product designs
Work with developers to understand feasibility and complexity tradeoffs of different design mocks
Produce beautiful, finished designs based on wireframes and verbal and written requirements
Use industry-standard tools (e.g. Figma) to communicate designs to the development and product teams
Consult with the product team throughout the feature ideation and definition phase; form a deep understanding of the product and guide stakeholders toward features that will translate beautifully to a mobile-responsive web application
Bedrock Learning, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
Requirements
Previous experience designing UIs that have been loved by real users
Experience designing mobile-responsive web applications that conform to various screen sizes
A portfolio containing at least 3 previous design projects
Ability to work as a 1099 contractor in the United States
Bonus
Experience or interest in video game and / or board game design
Experience designing advanced, multi-step interactions with clean animations
Basic understanding of web technologies and database-driven application design
Benefits
Contractors receive competitive hourly compensation, depending on experience
Possibility to move into full-time salary position for the right candidate
Flexibility: Initially 5-10 hours per week with the ability to grow into more hours after the first 1-3 months; occasional meetings and the ability to work any time
