Job Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Assistant Beekeeper to join our team. This is an entry-level position, and no prior beekeeping experience is required. You will have the opportunity to work outdoors and assist our beekeeping research team with daily operations and projects related to bee health and management.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with routine beekeeping tasks, including hive inspections, feeding, and monitoring bee health.
- Support the research team in data collection and observations related to hive activity.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining beekeeping equipment and research materials.
- Work closely with bees in a safe and respectful manner, following guidelines provided by experienced beekeepers.
- Help maintain cleanliness and order in apiary areas.
- Follow safety protocols for working with bees and using beekeeping tools.
- Perform other general labor tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- No prior experience required; training will be provided.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to work in close proximity to bees.
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
- Basic physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in beekeeping, environmental science, or agriculture is a plus.
- Previous experience working outdoors or in a hands-on labor role.
