PRIDE Program at Behavioral Health Associates serves as the area’s premier full-time emotional support program. Servicing students for a variety of reasons, the core of the program is founded on the following five components: Preparation, Recovery, Interaction, Development, and Education.
By providing every student every opportunity to succeed, the PRIDE Program instills the skills and techniques necessary for an eventual transition back to their home district. Our goal at PRIDE is to put each student in a position to make decisions that yield the best possible outcome. We accomplish this by empowering students with the strategies and knowledge necessary to navigate challenges that may arise while in school, as well as in their personal lives.
Our PRIDE Program has two openings for Instructional Assistant's to start at the beginning of the 2022-2023 School Year, located in Lehighton, PA. JOB GOAL
- Assist in the clerical, instructional, and monitoring duties in a supportive role to meet the needs of the students and the PRIDE Program. Provide behavioral interventions on an as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide therapeutic and academic services to students in the PRIDE Program.
- Utilize non-violent crisis prevention intervention techniques when necessary.
- Assist with delivery of academic instruction.
- Document student observations/data.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, restorative, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and a part of the school community.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Be responsible for equipment and materials for the program.
- Respond positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
- Work to stay current in subject and content area of instructional techniques.
- Perform tasks assigned by the classroom Teacher and classroom Educational Therapist.
- Other duties assigned by the BHA PRIDE Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Paraeducator experience from a previous school or agency is preferred
- Experience in working with children/students
- Utilizes effective written and oral expression
- Basic computer literacy
