What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Manager position at Behlen Mfg. Co.?
This District Manager position is responsible to grow the territory of WY, NM, CO, KS and MO in this outside sales position. There is an opportunity to grow the territory and bottom line of Behlen Country by earning new business as well as growing the current customer base in the area. This is part of the Central Region team and will partner with other District Managers to support their customers when needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Call on and manage all existing and new customers in the assigned territory
- Conduct customer product training and customer meetings
- Travel the territory in planned weekly trips
- Develop regional promotions for products with customers and the Regional Manager
- Develop positive “Book of Business” with each customer in this territory
- Participate weekly on the Sales Call
- Network to understand what the competition is doing and share what is learned
- Coordinate and participate in selected customer buying shows and trade shows
- Assist in pricing and discounts to achieve Behlen Country profit and sales goals
- Coordinate mailings, special quotes, promotional programs, etc with Marketing for this territory
- Communicate pricing changes in a timely manner to support increases and decreases
- Represent Behlen Country with integrity, honesty, and great customer service
- Achieve continuous growth of 5% each fiscal year
- Ability to achieve sales goals
- Have a strong desire for competition, growth, and leading
- Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy, procedures and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Ability to work towards continuous improvement of product quality and ISO-9001:2015.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Four Year College degree in a related field
- Strong sales and customer service skills
- Ability to learn the entire Behlen Country product line
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience
- Agricultural background with knowledge of livestock or horses
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Goal oriented team player with desire for continuous improvement and learning in a rapidly changing competitive environment
- Business and Financial acumen
- Some travel to branch plants required
- Strong written and communication skills
- Knowledge in the use of computers, manufacturing planning tools, and tech trends
- A sense of urgency to impact the bottom line performance
- Ability to work, communicate, and exchange ideas with other teams and leaders
