Position Overview

The Safety Coordinator position is responsible for the health and safety of employees, subcontractors, consultants, and other parties operating under BELFOR control at our facilities and on job sites.

They act as a resource to all workplace parties and contribute to the overall quality of policies, systems, services and results.

Experience and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license
• OSHA 30 Certification
• EPA Lead RRP Certification
• Construction, property restoration or insurance industry experience preferred
• Strong computer skills
• English language literacy & fluency
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under time constraints to meet specific obligations

Physical Requirements

• Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling
• Occasional unassisted lifting of up to 50lb (from 0-15% of the time)
• Able to access and tolerate tight spaces and working at heights

Duties

Primary Responsibilities

• Attends health and safety training initiated by Health and Safety Director (HSD) or the area RSM
• Conducts local office health and safety training as directed by the HSD, RSM, and / or GM
• Develops and implements site-specific safety plans including hosting tail-gate safety meetings
• Inspects job sites for health and safety compliance
• Intervenes in unsafe work practices and interacts with operations personnel to correct deficiencies
• Oversees EPA RRP program including assuring compliance with required documentation
• Maintains office health and safety training records
• Serves as point-of-contact for hazardous materials sampling requirements (primarily asbestos)
• Participates in incident investigations at the guidance of the RSM or HSD
• Administers the Respiratory Protection Program
• Other projects and duties as assigned
